How do I get rid of dog odor in carpet?

Written by admin on February 19, 2010 – 9:37 pm -

Yesterday I picked up a Hoover carpet scrubber from my fiance’s parents house. His brother hoisted it into the backseat of my car without emptying the dirty water from inside of it, hence it dripped onto my back seat, which now smells of dog hair and pee. I’ve tried everything from special carpet solutions to Febreeze but nothing has rid the odor. Help! It’s unbearable for me to drive with the smell.

Try looking around at a stort like PetsMart for a product called Natures Miracle. It works wonders on getting animal odors out of carpets.

Find a cleaner or carpet powder that has baking soda in it. Or just use plain baking soda. It works wonders.

carpet powder works well, especially if it is formulated for pet smells.

I guess the other answerers didn’t read that you already tried Fabreeze!

Have you tried an enzymatic cleaner?

One thing you have to consider is that if you’re not able to leave your car open to dry there’s no where for the smell to go. You’ll need to shampoo it and leave it open until it dries.

You could also take it to a place that cleans car upholstery.

Also consider going to a pet store and looking for carpet cleaning solutions that are intended for pet odors.

Use water and vinegar to clean it & let it air dry. It will still be a little stinky, but it will take the funk out!

If its on your clothes, wash your clothes with vinegar 1st & the wash them as you normally do.

apolstry clean it (maybe professionally) it should remove it. Or you could tap a little baking soda on it. Then take a tooth brush and scrub it.

you should sprinkle arm and hammer baking soda over your carpet then sweep over the baking soda. If that does not work then spray fabreez. or you could steam clean your carpet? Hopefully this advice helps!
